About

English legs, Austrian mountains

I am an English trail and ultra runner living in Söll, in the Wilder Kaiser region of Tirol. I came out for one winter season in 2010 and never really left.

I race long: 100k to 100 miles, mostly in the Alps. I won the Mozart 100 in 2024 and finished 25th at UTMB Mont-Blanc the same year, on a week where I had been ill and had not run for seven days. Thirty-two ultra finishes in, I still think the best ones are ahead.

I coach for Centurion Running, working with runners going after their first 50k and runners going after a hundred-mile buckle. I also built Intake, a race-specific fuelling and pacing planner, because generic hourly targets fall apart on real terrain.

Away from the trails I am a guitarist and singer, playing weddings, bars and festivals across Tirol, and I translate German into English for people who need the tone to survive the crossing.

Specificity is absolutely key. You have to train the race you are actually going to run. After Chianti 120k, 2026

Coaching

Coaching for the long ones

I coach through Centurion Running: one to one, built around your race, your terrain and the hours you actually have.

  • Train the race you entered

Climbing, descending and the durability that comes with them are specific. A winter of flat, fast work gives you leg speed, not legs that survive 9,000 metres of descent. We build the plan around the course, not around a template.

  • Raise your volume without being an idiot

Your body does not know percentages. Five or ten minutes on the end of a run is not a risk. Piling on a session you have not earned is. Progression is a judgement call, made week by week, not a rule from a book.

  • Fuelling is trained, not guessed

Carbohydrate per hour, sodium, caffeine and what your stomach will still take at hour eleven. All of it is practised in training, so that race day is a rehearsal rather than an experiment.
